The Judicial Council announced Wednesday that all courts received over 465,654 cases in 2022.
The number of cases decided in 2022 reached 464,183 cases, and the duration of litigation decreased by 24% compared to 2017, the Judicial Council said in a press conference.
The Judicial Council confirmed that 99.7% of what was submitted to the courts in 2022 had been completed, while the caseload per judge reached an average of 690 cases.
The Court of Appeal received 18,520 cases, an increase of 7% over the year 2020, of which 18,387 cases were decided, an increase of 9%.
The number of Grand Criminal Court (GCC) cases increased by 26% over the year 2017, as the number of cases received by the court reached 1,924 cases, and 2,037 cases were decided during the past year, an increase of 29% over the year 2017, and 795 cases remain.
The juvenile courts received 12,197 cases, an increase of 3% over the year 2017. The courts decided 12,051 cases, an increase of 3% over the year 2017, and they remained with 1,307 cases, a decrease of 39% over the year 2017.
