5500 tons of unfit rice destroyed in Zarqa, JFDA says
Director General of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), Professor Dr. Nizar Mahmoud Mahidat, decided to form a committee to destroy a quantity of more than 5500 tons of rice that is not suitable for human consumption, which the JFDA recently seized in accordance with the provisions of Food Law No. (30) of 2015.
The JFDA's monitoring and inspection teams, in coordination with the cadres of the Environmental Control Department - the Royal Department for Environmental Protection, went, based on a note received by the health department in the Rusaifa municipality, to the rice warehouses regarding the rice containing a 'rice weevil', and the institution seized a quantity of more than (5500) tons of rice, Muhaidat stated.
Muhaidat emphasized that the JFDA has taken all precautionary measures to ensure that rice is not leaked to the local market and to ensure that warehouses are closed with red wax and lead.
