The Jordanian Seismological Observatory (JSO) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, on Monday, recorded an earthquake, with a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale, occurring north of the city of Theban in Madaba Governorate at 3:09am local time.
In a statement to Ammon, the head of the Jordanian Seismological Observatory Ghassan Sweidan said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 7 km.
The earthquake is of a weak level, which may be felt by some citizens close to the site of its occurrence, he added.
