Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh on Tuesday toured mining and mineral exploration projects, which the ministry is carrying out in the south of the Kingdom.
He was briefed on progress made in drilling wells, collection of rock samples and chemical analysis to assess reserves and mineralization of copper and other strategic minerals in areas that had not been previously surveyed.
The minister praised the efforts of drilling workers and the technical and exploration teams of the ministry to utilize local resources to boost the mining sector with added value, which contributes to attracting investment in the Jordanian mining sector, the ministry said in a statement.
Director of Natural Resources Studies Hisham Zyoud reviewed the preliminary results that were made and the timetable set for drilling operations.
Kharabsheh also inspected a well in Wadi Araba, 12 km from the project site, which was fully equipped to provide logistical and technical services to drilling crews, whose work will run until the end of the year.
The drilling project in the south was launched in early 2022 as part of the national mining scheme in the Kingdom and culminated in the signing of 12 memorandums of understanding.
