Health Ministry: Children, elderly are most susceptible to sunstroke
The Director of the Health Awareness and Media Directorate at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ghaith Owais, confirmed that the Ministry has taken all necessary preventive measures to deal with the heat wave that affects the Kingdom during the coming days.
Owais stressed that it is important for all people, regardless of age group or health conditions, to take appropriate preventive measures during periods of extreme heat.
He emphasized the need of dressing appropriately and wearing natural fabrics like cotton to absorb sweat.
Owais called on citizens to drink fluids regularly, as plenty of fluids must be taken to maintain hydration.
Children and the elderly are the ones most at risk from the high temperature, according to Owais, because they have weaker immune systems and are less able to adjust to temperature changes.
