Minister calls for establishing goods logistics center in Jordan
Transport Minister Maher Abu Al Samen called for establishing a logistics hub for exchanging goods in Jordan, due to the Kingdom's distinguished strategic location.
During the inauguration ceremony of the General Assembly and the Board of Directors of the Arab Union for Land Transport (AULT) meetings on Thursday, the minister emphasized the need to foster cooperation between the public and private sectors in transport field, pointing to its reflection on the smooth movement of commodities among Arab nations.
He also indicated that the ministry seeks to implement a number of initiatives to improve the transport sector in Jordan, modernize and simplify customs procedures to facilitate intra-trade for the transport of goods and passengers.
'Jordan, due to its distinguished location in the heart of the Arab world, is a link for the transit of goods between Arab countries, as it is considered pivotal in intra-trade and transit by providing the appropriate infrastructure to link transport routes by attracting investment in this domain, ' the minister stated.
For his part, Khaled Al-Hogail, President of the the International Road Federation and the AULT's Chairman of the Board of Directors appreciated Jordan for hosting the Union's general secretariat since 1976.
In turn, Malik Haddad, AULT Secretary-General,hightailed the the importance of the union as an Arab umbrella that aims at exchanging information and easing procedures between transport companies in the Arab world to reach the goal of activating joint Arab action.
