More than 500k tourists flocked Petra since 2023 beginning-PDTRA
Number of visitors to Jordan's historical and archaeological city of Petra on Saturday broke half a million guest barrier since the beginning of 2023, Chief Commissioner of Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Suleiman Farajat, announced.
In a statement on Sunday, Farajat said a total of about 502, 000 visitors flocked Petra since beginning of 2023, according to official statistics, expecting the number of tourists visiting this archeological site to reach about 700,000 to mid-2023.
Farajat added that the number of Petra visitors last April reached 146,687, including 126,373 foreigners, 3,356 Arabs, and 14,052 Jordanians.
During last April, he said visitors to Petra increased by about 137%, compared to the same month 2022, and by 6%, against 2019.
