PSD: Allegations of Bassem Awadallah's lawyer unfounded
The official spokesman for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said that Basem Awadallah, informed on Friday the concerned authorities in the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation Centers that he had ended his hunger strike, which he had informed them that he would begin last Monday.
Awadallah was transferred to the hospital Friday to monitor his health condition, as the doctors diagnosed him with a Otitis media (middle ear infection), he was given the necessary treatment, and he left the hospital, PSD's spokesman said.
He stressed that he receives the necessary health follow-up in accordance with the law and enjoys his full rights, including with regard to visits, communications, medical follow-up and consular visits.
He also denied the allegations of the Awadallah's lawyer in the US, stressing that they are unfounded allegations, noting that the International Committee of the Red Cross also visited Awadallah and was briefed on his conditions of imprisonment, which were fully consistent with Jordanian law and relevant international standards.
