Biden's nominee for ambassador to Jordan: We will continue to stress accountability over killing of Shireen Abu Akleh
US President Joe Biden's nominee for Washington's ambassador to Jordan, Yael Lambert, confirmed that the US State Department will continue to stress accountability over the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh.
'I was present at US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's meeting with Abu Akleh's family in Washington last year, Lambert said during a senate session, adding that 'we continue to stress at the level of the Secretary of State the importance of accountability of her killing'.
She added that she is aware of the new summary report of the US Security Coordinator regarding the killing, although she has not read it yet.
Lambert, the State Department's second-highest-ranking diplomat dedicated to the Middle East, has played an important role in guiding US policy regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
