Bassem Awadallah's claims of 3-weeks hunger strike inaccurate, source says
A security source confirmed that Bassem Awadallah, who was convicted on sedition charges in Jordan is in good health, and the claims of a 3-weeks hunger strike 'inaccurate', saying Awadallah has been drinking liquids regularly.
'He was hospitalized at the recommendation of the medical team and later discharged after receiving the necessary treatment,' the source told CNN, adding that 'He is now in good condition.'
The source said there was no obligation for Jordanian officials to notify the American Embassy because Awadallah is a Jordanian 'first and foremost', however, as a holder of US citizenship, the law allows Awadallah the right to meet with the American consul who visited him Monday.
