Public Works Ministry announces "medium" state of emergency due to weather
The Ministry of Public Works and Housing announced a 'medium' state of emergency, starting Tuesday morning as a low pressure system is expected to affect the kingdom, according to the Meteorological Department.
Ministry crews stood ready to deal with the weather conditions and respond to any emergencies around the clock through 106 teams spread throughout the Kingdom's governorates, the ministry said in a press release.
Minister of Public Works and Housing and Minister of Transport, Maher Abu Al-Samen, asked directorates and offices of the ministry across the country to be fully prepared to deal with the depression, carry out regular field tours in all regions and report to the Central Emergency Unit.
The statement called for close coordination with the Ministry's partners to promptly address complaints and ensure services are not disrupted.
The ministry cautioned the public about the risk of low visibility due to dust and high winds in the Badia desert region as well flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, particularly the Dead Sea and Aqaba.
