Senate Speaker Faisal Fayez met with Arab Parliament Speaker Adel Abdulrahman Al-Asoomi, and discussed the region's current situation and ways to activate parliamentary work and diplomacy to serve the Arab nation's common interest.
During the meeting, attended by Jordan's ambassador to Egypt Amjad Adaileh, the two sides underscored the significance of restoring security and stability in the Arab region, a statement by the Senate said on Thursday.

'The priority of Arab parliamentary action should focus, at the current stage, on finding Arab economic integration to meet the challenges of sustainable development,' he highlighted, renewing his call for establishing an economic and customs union for Arab countries.
For his part, Al-Asoomi hailed His Majesty King Abdullah's efforts in strengthening joint Arab action, bringing peace and stability to the region, and ending the political conflicts.
Also today, the Senate speaker and his accompanying delegation visited the Jordanian embassy in Cairo and appreciated the efforts made to foster Jordanian-Egyptian ties.
