MP Tibi: Jordanian ambassador does not need anyone's approval to enter Al-Aqsa
The Parliamentary Office of Representative Dr. Ahmed Tibi, issued a statement regarding the prevention of the Jordanian ambassador, Ghassan Majali, from entering the Al Aqsa Mosque, while he was accompanied by the Director General of the Jerusalem Endowments and the Blessed Al Aqsa Mosque Affairs, by an Israeli Policeman, under the pretext of not coordinating to receive approval.
The statement stated: “The policeman pursued the ambassador, and blocked his way after he was about to enter, claiming that the ambassador could not enter until approval was received, and according to eyewitnesses with whom MP Dr. Ahmed Tibi communicated, the policeman’s dealings with the ambassador were rude.”
“MP Tibi raised the issue before the Knesset, stressing that His Excellency Ambassador Ghassan Majali, in addition to being Muslim, is the ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and does not need the approval of any of the occupation soldiers to enter the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque”, the statement added.
The statement ended: “After trying to prevent the ambassador from entering, and attempting to infringe on the Jordanian Hashemite patronage of sanctities in Jerusalem, the Israeli ambassador was summoned to the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately, as a protest step against these unacceptable actions against the Jordanian ambassador.”
