King receives US National Security Council Mideast coordinator
His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday received US National Security Council Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Brett McGurk at Al Husseiniya Palace.
The meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, covered means of enhancing the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States, and maintaining coordination on issues of mutual concern.
Discussions also addressed the latest regional and international developments, as well as the importance of supporting stabilisation efforts in the region and promoting regional cooperation projects.
Discussing the Palestinian cause, King Abdullah reaffirmed that relaunching peace efforts through negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis, on the basis of the two-state solution, should be an international priority.
The meeting touched on regional and international efforts to counter terrorism within a holistic approach, and the importance of countering all threats to global peace and security.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan attended the meeting on the Jordanian side, while Special Presidential Coordinator for Global Infrastructure and Energy Security Amos Hochstein and a number of officials were in attendance on the US side.
