Human Rights Committee to sign parliamentary MoU for "general amnesty"
Head of the Lower House Freedom and Human Rights Committee Bassam Fayez, said on Thursday that the committee will sign a parliamentary memorandum to adopt a proposal for a general amnesty bill.
He added in a press statement, 'This procedure comes after governmental indications that a proposal for a general amnesty bill was not included on the agenda of the Council of Ministers in the last session and that no government response was received to parliamentary memos that were sent regarding the general amnesty.”
Fayez indicated that the committee will submit the parliamentary memorandum to the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives during the next week, after it is signed by members of the House wishing to do so, in order to take the necessary measures and legal frameworks to move towards adopting the issuance of a general amnesty.
