Recently endorsed Parties, Election Laws support women-youth empowerment-Safadi
Lower House Speaker, Ahmed Safadi, affirmed 'true' political will to support and empower women, adding that Royal directives always aim to expand base of popular participation in decision-making process.
Chairing a meeting held by Forum of Jordanian Parliamentarian Women on Sunday, Safadi hailed package of amendments on Parties and Elections Laws as 'motivating and supportive' of women and youth.
Jordanian women still need further support, in light of the economic, social and cultural challenges, which 'remarkably' limit their engagement in partisan and political work, Safadi pointed out.
For her part, MP Amal Shaqran said Jordan has made 'great' strides and 'remarkable' developments in the women's empowerment field.
Recent amendments to Jordan's Constitution and Parties and Election Laws would have a 'clear' impact on supporting women's political participation and also assuming public leadership positions, Shaqran added.
