US Embassy lifts travel restrictions on its citizens
The US Embassy in Amman decided to lift the restrictions imposed on its citizens, after life returned to normal in the governorates.
The embassy said that it had lifted the movement ban on its employees imposed in the middle of this month regarding movement between the governorates, but it kept the movement ban at night (employees at the embassy).
The embassy advised its citizens to take additional precautions when driving at night and during adverse weather conditions, as many areas are susceptible to flash flooding and washouts.
The embassy also noted about the interruption of the Internet and cell phone networks with the increase of checkpoints in some areas on the desert highway.
The embassy states that the protests are peaceful, but they can turn violent.
The embassy stressed to monitor weather and road conditions, particularly when light is low, to avoid large crowds and protests, to seek alternate routes around road closings, to be aware of the surroundings, to monitor local media and to contact the police by dialing 911 in danger situations.
