Ammon News : The Council of the Heads of Churches in Jordan Monday decried the 'cowardly terrorist' operation against police officers in the Al Husseiniya area of Ma'an, killing three officers and wounding five others.

The Council mourned in a statement the death of the officers and said, 'Based on these painful events that the national body is exposed to, we held an extraordinary meeting of the Council of the Heads of Churches in Jordan.

'We decided to cancel all Christmas and New Year celebrations and practise religious rites in churches in solidarity with the homeland, the Public Security Directorate and our grieving families.'
