The Lower House Brotherhood Association with Arab Maghreb countries, headed by MP Mejhem Sqour, on Sunday discussed with the Algerian Ambassador to Jordan, Mohamed Sherif Kourta, ways to enhance bilateral relations.
Attending the meeting, House First Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Khalayleh, said bilateral relations 'deep-rooted,' calling on strengthening them in all fields, especially in the parliamentary fields.
Khalayleh also pointed to both sides' constant keenness to maintain continued contact on key regional and international issues of common concern, especially after the recent Royal visit to Algeria.
Bilateral relations are witnessing further growth, progress and prosperity in various fields, as a reflection of the two countries' national aspirations, he noted.
For his part, Sqour described the Jordanian-Algerian relations as 'solid' and are continuously developing with efforts of the two countries' leaders, pointing to their common positions towards local and international issues, especially the Palestinian cause and Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites.
He also stressed the House's keenness to strengthen brotherly relations with Arab Maghreb countries, including Algeria, in various fields, especially parliamentary domains and activate the two countries' parliamentary brotherhood and friendship committees aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and joint Arab action.
Meanwhile, association's members called on increasing mutual agreements, investments and trade exchange and removing all obstacles facing joint action, stressing the importance of signing a memorandum of understanding with the Algerian parliament.
Lauding cooperation achieved in all sectors, Algerian envoy called on increasing trade exchange between the two countries, and taking steps to stimulate investors and businesspeople to explore opportunities available in the economic, investment and trade fields.
Kourta stressed the importance of expanding joint cooperation to include other sectors, aimed at achieving joint development in a way that realizes the two countries' growth and prosperity.
