Minister of Tourism meets with Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Al-Rai
Minister of tourism and Antiquities, Nayef Fayez, met at the ministry’s headquarters with the Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Beshara Boutros Al Rahi, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry, Dr. Imad Hijazin, Director General of the Department of Antiquities, Dr. Fadi Balawi, Director General of the Tourism Promotion Authority, Dr. Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, and Counselor Hisham Al-Abbadi.
Minister Fayez said that Jordan considered one of the most important religious tourism destinations in the world, due to its religious and cultural diversity, and the values of tolerance and coexistence.
He added, 'Jordan is the land of holiness, where Christianity started from the site of the Baptism in Jordan, in which Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.'
For his part, His Beatitude Patriarch Al-Rahi referred to the activity of the Ministry of Tourism, which reflects the keenness of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to highlight the historical and heritage sites and present them in the best way to visitors from all over the world, in addition to unveiling the religious sites that enrich our holy lands.
He pointed to the importance of promoting religious tourism, stressing his support and readiness to cooperate in this context, which comes naturally in light of the historical and distinguished relations between Lebanon and Jordan.
His Beatitude Patriarch Al-Rahi thanked the Kingdom and the Ministry for the support and cooperation with Lebanon and its people, expressing his happiness at visiting the Kingdom, which is rich in important religious and historical sites, which constitute a model of brotherhood and love between Muslims and Christians.
