His Majesty held talks with Iraqi PM Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, in the presence of His Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II.
The talks, which were held at Basman Palace, dealt with fraternal relations between the two countries, and mechanisms for enhancing economic cooperation and completing joint projects between them.
His Majesty the King expressed, during bilateral talks that were followed by expanded ones, his wishes for the Iraqi PM to succeed in his duties, stressing his pride in the level of the strong relations that unite the two brotherly countries and peoples and it was emphasized that Jordan and Iraq are keen to enhance cooperation at all levels, especially political and economic, and to build on what has been achieved in joint projects.
His Majesty the King stressed the importance of continuing cooperation between the two countries, and the tripartite cooperation with Egypt, as a model for integration in the region and the need to continue coordination and consultation between Jordan and Iraq on various issues of common interest, in a way that achieves their interests and serves Arab issues.
His Majesty the King pointed out the importance of Iraq's role in its Arab environment and the region, stressing that Iraq's security is a fundamental pillar of the region's security and stability.
The talks touched on regional issues and crises, the Palestinian issue, in addition to the efforts exerted in the war on terrorism, within a holistic approach.
For his part, Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq's keenness to maintain distinguished relations with Jordan, stressing the continuation of joint cooperation in various fields for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples, and in a way that reflects on the security, stability and prosperity of the region.
PM Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi, and Director of His Majesty's Office Dr. Jaafar Hassan, attended the meeting on the Jordanian side.
