A symposium, organized by the Jordanian Association for Educational Sciences, discussed development of the Kingdom's high school system, primarily general secondary education certificate examination (Tawjihi) in the Kingdom and Palestine, with participation of Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Azmi Mahafzah.
The symposium aimed to discuss ways to develop high school system and its outcomes, in line with the the two countries' development goals to guarantee student’s right to obtain an 'advanced and distinguished' level of education and exchange educational and academic expertise in this field, according to the association statement on Wednesday.
The event also went over ways to benefit from global expertise in the field of education, in light of the continued efforts to upgrade the education system at the school-university levels, the statement added.
During the symposium, Mahafzah presented the key proposals on Jordan's Tawjihi development plan, stressing that the exam was reviewed in the past few years to improve its outcomes, which would produce a university education that meets labor market's diverse needs, in line with the National Strategy for Human Resource Development 2016-2025.
This plan, which is still under discussion, focuses on reviewing and developing Jordan's vocational education system, and benefiting from successful international expertise in this field, in a bid to reach an integrated adequate and effective educational system, stressing the importance of integrating development plans for the entire educational process, he noted.
Mahafzah added: 'There are many reasons to develop Tawjihi exam and maintain its positive sides to achieve justice and transparency and preserve its objectives.'
