Speech from the Throne places responsibility on us to continue development, modernization process: Safadi
The newly-elected Lower House Speaker Ahmed Safadi stressed the necessity of reading and implementing the contents of the Speech from the Throne, by which His Majesty King Abdullah inaugurated the second ordinary session of the 19th Parliament.
Following his election win, Safadi said that His Majesty the King 'has honored us by inaugurating the second ordinary session of the 19th Parliament, as a guide, mentor and developer of a roadmap for our national priorities in the next stage, where the path of reform, development and political, economic and administrative modernization is an irreversible option.'
He stressed that content of the Speech from the Throne places a great responsibility on the Parliament and the government to continue the process of development and modernization with roles of cooperation that lead to complementarity, taking into account the flexible separation of powers defined by the Jordanian constitution.
Safadi added that the upcoming parliament committees, as the kitchen of legislation and the house of expertise and competence, have significant tasks in improving the draft laws presented before the parliament, expressing his confidence that the parliament will choose the most qualified in the most appropriate position.
Safadi called delivering the national projects directed by His Majesty the King in investment and enhancing the national economy, and pushing the integration of joint projects with partners in the region.
