Palestinian envoy lauds King's Speech from the Throne
Ambassador of Palestine to Jordan, Atallah Khairy, valued His Majesty King Abdullah's speech from the throne, delivered on Sunday before the Parliament, and his reaffirmation on the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
'The Palestinian leadership and people proudly appreciate and value His Majesty the King’s unconditional support for the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people, and His Majesty’s reaffirmation that Jordan’s pivotal role will remain focused on defending the Palestinian cause, which we were, are, and will continue to support,' Khairy said Sunday in a statement.
Khairy said that His Majesty the King stressed in his speech that the Palestinian cause is at the top of His Majesty's priorities, and there is no way to resolve it without a just and comprehensive solution that begins with the end of the Israeli occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the pre-June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Khairy added that the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem is a strategic necessity on the Arab, Islamic and international levels, and that it represents a protective shield for these holy sites and safeguarding them from occupation attacks and violations.
Khairy said that parts included in the speech from throne on the Palestinian cause carry very important and clear meanings and messages that everyone should understand well, and it contains clear affirmations of His Majesty's stances on the Palestinian cause.
