Jordan celebrates today, Tuesday, the 72nd anniversary of its accession to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as well as the 50th anniversary of the Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
During Jordan’s accession to UNESCO in June 1950, Jordan passed through luminous stations and achieved positive results that enhanced its international standing, especially since Jordan is characterized by a rich and unique civilized and cultural heritage.
In the belief of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in full and equal educational opportunities for all, the unfettered pursuit of objective truth, and the free exchange of ideas and knowledge, Jordan joined UNESCO on 14 June 1950, in order to advance the goals of international peace and the common well-being of humanity, through educational, scientific and cultural relations with peoples of the world.
Since its establishment in 1945, UNESCO has been working to create educational tools to help people live as global citizens free from hatred and intolerance, and it is keen on ensuring that every child and every citizen benefits from a quality education.
