Local revenues increased in January-June of 2022 by JOD 308.5 million to reach JOD 4.017 billion, compared to JOD 3.708 billion during the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Finance.
The increase in local revenues resulted from an increase in tax revenues by about JOD 263.5 million. Non-tax revenues increased by JOD 45 million.
The increase in tax revenues is attributed to income tax revenues and profits increase by JOD195.8 million due to the success of the tax reform measures taken by the Income and Sales Tax Department in combating tax evasion and recovery in the rates of economic activity that impacted economic growth rates.
The Ministry said the rise in non-tax revenues is because of the increase in the various revenues by a value of JOD 69.5 million in light of the improvement in the performance of companies.
Total spending increased in the reporting period to JOD 328.8 million, upping total spending to JOD 4.946 billion, compared to JOD 4.617 billion during the same period in 2021, as spending on social protection increased by about JOD 100 million.
