A Cabinet session held Sunday, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, approved the mandating reasons for 2022 bylaw for occupational safety and health and prevention from labor-related hazards in institutions.
The system aims to set purposes of identifying procedures, precautions and measures necessary to protect workers from occupational hazards, reduce labor-related accidents, injuries and diseases, in line with Arab and international standards for occupational safety and health.
The Council of Ministers also okayed decisions issued by Board of Commissioners of Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC), which granted Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) the rights to mine phosphate ores within lands in the southern Ma’an governorate.
Under the decision, the mining rights are subject to any future amendments or related steps taken by Council of Ministers in this regard to ensure proper implementation of projects in mining areas, or plans to rehabilitate them and ensure fair and rewarding profits to the state Treasury.
The decision also seeks to empower the franchise to benefit exclusively from the mining right.
