Jordan, Qatar remove restrictions on passenger, cargo capacity, flights
Chief Commissioner /CEO. Jordan Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), Haitham Misto, and President of Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), Mohamed Faleh Alhajri, agreed to fully operate direct air transport between the two countries.
The Jordanian-Qatari agreement, which came as an outcome of joint CARC-QCAA talks on air transport field on Wednesday, and removed restrictions imposed on passenger and freight capacity and the number of flights operated between the two countries, and type of operating aircraft, according to a CARC statement.
The meeting also went over joint relations in the air transport field, including fully liberalizing direct air transport between the two countries to complete procedures to sign the updated air services agreement between the two sides, inked on March 14.
Outcomes of the Jordanian-Qatari discussions are 'fruitful' and would have significant positive impacts on the overall economic and investment activity and trade exchange and would increase volume of joint air transport, especially after liberalizing direct air transport, the statement said.
This step is in line with gradual liberalization policy of air transport adopted by the Jordanian government according to National Air Transport Strategy, CARC said.
