Senate Chief reiterates support for end to Yemen crisis
Senate President Faisal Fayez Tuesday reaffirmed Jordan's support of Arab and international efforts to end the Yemeni crisis, safeguard the country's unity and territorial integrity and restore peace and security.
Fayez said during a meeting with Yemeni Foreign Minister Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak that His Majesty King Abdullah II constantly underscores the need for a comprehensive solution to end the cycle of violence in Yemen and overcome security and political challenges through dialogue involving all components of Yemeni people.
He said Jordan is keen to continue supporting the 'brotherly' people of Yemen and the Amman-based UN mission to Yemen, adding that the Kingdom welcomes a recent agreement to extend a ceasefire between the Yemeni government and the Houthi militia that will 'hopefully' lead to opening roads and lifting the siege on the city of Taiz.
Fayez and bin Mubarak discussed ways to promote cooperation between the two countries in various fields, and the Yemeni minister spoke about efforts to reach a political solution to end the Yemeni crisis and restore security and stability in the country, expressing his appreciation to Jordan for its support.
