Safadi urges 'immediate action' to stop Israeli operation in Gaza
Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi Saturday urged the international community to take 'immediate action' to stop the Israeli military operation in Gaza and to provide protection for Palestinian citizens in the besieged enclave.
Safadi discussed with the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, and said the continuation of aggression threatens escalation, 'for which everyone would pay the price.'
Safadi discussed with the UN envoy over the phone the efforts to stop the aggression and end the escalation, which he warned could lead to worse consequences.
He noted the importance of preventing provocative action in the Al Aqsa Mosque / Al Haram Al Sharif on Sunday and respecting the historical and legal reality to deescalate the tension.
Jordan has been working since the start of the Israeli campaign to end the hostilities, deescalate the tension and restore calm.
