Intellectual property training program for women launched in Petra region
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in cooperation with the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) and Directorate of Industrial Property Protection at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, launched the first training stage of the 'Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship for Women' project in Petra.
PDTRA Chairman, Dr. Suleiman Farajat, said the training program came to support Petra region's associations to reach a 'high' level of productivity and competition.
The program also seeks to provide new products and creative ideas, which would sustain efforts made under intellectual property fields within the southern Petra district, Farajat added.
PDTRA Commissioner for Local Community Development and Environment, Maram Freihat, said the project seeks to create a unified brand for associations in Petra region called 'Made in Petra' to provide high quality products and help enter various production fields.
Meanwhile, WIPO Program Officer for Regional and National Development Projects Sector, Dina Ibrahim, said the training program aims to help Petra's associations and women use the intellectual property system as a way to support local and economic development in the region.
