Jordan, Egypt hold expanded talks to enhance bilateral cooperation
Expanded Jordanian-Egyptian talks were held in Cairo on Monday.
Talks, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, covered a number of priority areas of bilateral cooperation for both sides in light of the escalating international and regional challenges, which have impacted the security and stability of the region, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Industry and Trade Monday evening.
The meeting also discussed ways to enhance relations during the coming period, especially at economic and investment levels, and to boost the movement of trade exchange in the field of transport, in line with the directives of the leadership of the two countries to move forward to develop various frameworks and mechanisms of cooperation between Egypt and Jordan in all fields.
The two sides agreed to remove restrictions that limit the flow of trade between the two countries, with the formation of a joint working group from relevant ministries in Egypt and Jordan, to facilitate procedures and deal with any future challenges, as well as identifying two points of contact for this goal in the embassies of the two countries.
The meeting also covere Egyptian-Jordanian bilateral projects in many sectors to follow up on the implementation of these projects in a manner that maximizes the common interests of both sides, and the existing deep-rooted strategic relations between the two countries and peoples.
The meeting was attended on the Jordanian side, by Minister of Finance Dr. Mohammad Al-Assis and Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Youssef Shamali, and on the Egyptian side, it was attended by Finance Minister Mohamed Maait, Minister of Transport Kamel al-Wazir and Minister of Industry and Trade Nevine Gamea, in addition to senior officials in both countries.
