Next Saturday announced public holiday to mark Hijri new year
Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Khasawneh on Sunday issued a circular announcing next Saturday, July 30, a public holiday for ministries and public departments to observe the Islamic Hijri new year.
This Muharram 1 marks 1444 lunar years since Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) migration from Mecca to Medina, known as the 'Hijra'.
The circular excluded ministries and official departments, 'whose nature of work requires otherwise.'
To mark this event, the Prime Minister called on all ministries and public departments to contribute to highlighting this holy occasion, in the brightest way and showing its significance in the right manner.
