The Criminal Court Prosecutor on Wednesday began questioning over 40 people in connection with a huge brawl in Maan that left three people dead on Monday, official sources said.
The brawl involved over 60 people where various types of weapons, including machineguns, pistols and shotguns, were allegedly used, a senior judicial source said.
The incident, in the Hashmieh town, left eight other people injured, including one person in critical condition, the senior judicial source told The Jordan Times.
The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for further medical treatment and follow-up, a second source said.
“The prosecutor already ordered the detention of 30 people and further investigations could implicate others,” the second source added.
Investigators collected dozens of weapons that were allegedly used in the armed confrontation, the second source maintained.
“The seized weapons were sent to the Crime Lab for further analysis and ballistic match,” the second source added.
Investigations are ongoing by the Criminal Court’s prosecution office to learn more about the cause of the incident and if there are more people involved, according to the senior judicial source.
