Jordan Airports Company in process of commercializing Amman Civil Airport
The Jordan Airports Company (JAC) has rehabilitated Amman Civil Airport's runway end safety area (RESA), which is one of the requirements for commercial operation.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Transport on Sunday, work is underway to tender the backfilling of a valley adjacent to the airport's runway as part of other requirements for commercial operation.
According to the ministry's strategic and executive plan for 2021-2023, it would collaborate with JAC to conduct a feasibility study of upgrading and investing in the airport through a public-private partnership to attract foreign and domestic investment.
The Amman Civil Airport - Marka is a joint-use airport that only accepts non-commercial aircraft, with civil operations limited to private, diplomatic, and maintenance flights. It also houses an aviation training and education center, as well as the headquarters of several airport academies.
