Jordan to participate in forest farming workshop in Lebanon
Jordan is scheduled to participate in a workshop in Lebanon on July 21 to discuss the cross-border living laboratory project for forest farming.
The workshop is organized by the Agricultural Scientific Research Department, funded by the European Union through the Cross-Border Cooperation Program for the Mediterranean Basin, with the participation of Italy, Lebanon and Greece.
The project aims to support education, research and development, innovation, technology transfer, dissemination and marketing of research results, and to enhance cooperation between research institutions, small and medium-sized companies, farmers and their associations, industrialists, the private sector and all actors in general.
The project places special focus on forest farming, taking into account the multifunctional olive growing system (live laboratory) and rangeland in forests.
The workshop will discuss list of innovations available in a number of countries and how to implement them on the ground, according to the available agricultural data.
The workshop will contribute to laying the necessary foundations to start implementing any new innovation by providing the opportunity to invest in business and support the work of associations, research centers, agricultural policy makers and other relevant stakeholders in agriculture and food production.
