Many Qataris are preparing for their summer vacation in Jordan, favoring the country's temperate climate, gorgeous landscape, and welcoming people above many other holiday getaways.
After two years during which the pandemic disrupted the travel plans of many, they said that they could not find a better destination than Jordan to spend their annual vacations.
In an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Ahmed Al-Hajri, a government employee, says he is eager to visit Jordan almost every year for tourism, leisure, or business, and that the Kingdom has been and will continue to be his family's top travel destination.
Al-Hajri says he knows many Qatari families that solely spend their holidays in Jordan. He went on: 'We feel as at ease, comforted, safe, and secure in Jordan as we do in Qatar. This is why we prefer Jordan over many other Arab and European destinations, especially considering its geographical proximity.'
Faisal Al-Maslamani, a private sector employee, cites the country's antiquity, gorgeous scenery, and northern woods as his primary reasons for wanting to visit Jordan.
Al-Maslamani adds that the Dead Sea is always on his travel itinerary, emphasizing that the tranquility and beauty of this part of Jordan outweigh the summer heat.
Noor Kafud, an public relations officer, says that many Qataris have long seen Jordan as their second home and a tourist destination where they can have a hassle-free family holiday.
'Jordan is maybe the only Arab nation that shares customs, traditions, a way of life, and even a dialect with Gulf states. When a Qatari travels to Jordan, he is unaware that he is outside of his homeland,' she adds.
Although Jordan has many attractions, such as the Ajloun Mountains, the Dead Sea, Aqaba, the ruins of Jerash, and the city of Madaba, according to Saad Al-Nuaimi, owner of a restaurant franchise in Qatar, Wadi Rum and Petra are his favorites.
'The ancient city of Petra really needs no introduction. Everyone wants to see it for themselves,' says Al-Nuaimi, adding that Wadi Rum is also magical, especially at night, and one of the sites he most enjoys visiting every time he comes to Jordan.
