High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell and Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Várhelyi will travel to Jordan for the 14th EU-Jordan Association Council on 2 June and for a number of bilateral engagements, EU stated.
The Association Council, which High Representative/Vice-President Borrell will co-chair with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, will be devoted to EU-Jordan bilateral relations and the implementation of the EU-Jordan Association Agreement.
It is the first time that an Association Council is held in a partner country. At this landmark event, also attended by a number of EU Foreign Ministers, the Council will adopt the EU-Jordan Partnership Priorities until 2027, which set out the new common strategic framework in a number of key areas.
Commissioner Várhelyi will have a bilateral meeting with Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Shraideh to discuss EU - Jordan cooperation, including the implementation of the Economic and Investment plan for the Southern Neighbourhood as well as EU support to mitigate the impact of the Russian war against Ukraine. They will launch the EU-Jordan Investment Platform which can leverage up to €2.5 billion of investments, according to the EU.
