14th Jordan-EU Association Council meeting to commence Thursday
The fourteenth meeting of the Jordan-EU Association Council will take place on Thursday in the Dead Sea, to touch on bilateral relations and political matters.
The meeting, which will be held for the first time in an EU's Southern Neighborhood country, will be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell.
European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi will also take part in the meeting, along with a number of EU foreign ministers and Jordanian officials.
A statement by the foreign ministry on Monday said the event will mark a further milestone in the twenty-year-long partnership between Jordan and the European Union.
'The plenary session will be discussing the implementation of the EU-Jordan Association Agreement and the new 2021-2027 EU-Jordan Partnership Priorities, which the Association Council is expected to adopt,' the statement added.
Talks during the meeting will also include a political dialogue on regional and international issues.
