A dust storm with strong winds disrupted traffic and forced the suspension of classes in the desert region of Ruweished on Monday as authorities ordered people to stay indoors.
Ruweished Governor Mustafa Abadi told Petra that authorities were coordinating with local police to decide on traffic using the highway to Al-Karamah border post with Iraq, urging motorists for caution as the region was swept by winds of up to 70 kilometres an hour.
He said schools in the northeastern district shifted to remote learning 'for the safety of students and teachers.'
