The Senate on Tuesday approved the amended penalties and enforcement laws as passed by the Lower House.
In a session chaired by Senate President Faisal Fayez and attended by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh and cabinet ministers, Senators again refused the addition of 'political parties' to the Independent Election Commission's name as proposed by the Lower House, which means the dispute between the two chambers can only be settled at a joint session as per Article 92 of the Constitution.
The Senate also endorsed a recommendation to the government to extend until the end of the year Defence Order No. 28 of 2021 on the imprisonment of a debtor.
