5G network rollout will enable Jordan's businesses to improve services-Stakeholder
The Representative of the communications and information technology sector in the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Haitham Al-Rajbeh, said introduction of 5th generation mobile services will enable the Kingdom's business community to develop its business and enter new foreign markets.
In a statement on Sunday, he said 5th generation services will have a 'positive' impact on reviving the national economy, enhancing its competitiveness, creating more job opportunities, stimulating innovation, building expertise, exporting Jordanian competencies, attracting investments and launching trade partnerships.
Jordan, he noted, has witnessed a 'remarkable' development in the information and communication technology (ICT) field, stressing that the launch of the 5th generation network will bring about a 'major' transformation in public services and an increase in Treasury revenues.
Jordan's ICT sector constitutes approximately 3.8% of the country's GDP and its annual revenues amount to about $2 billion, as it has become a key growing economic business, despite the difficulties and challenges facing operating companies, according to Al-Rajbeh.
ICT sector has proven its importance and success during the Covid-19 crisis, as an 'important and basic' pillar of national security, whether in terms of helping to support efforts to combat the pandemic, or facilitating the work of economic sectors and the citizens' lives, he pointed out.
In addition, Jordanian companies operating in the ICT sector have made 'key' development and growth, and have become supportive of many regional countries by providing solutions for their various economic and service sectors, he noted.
Al-Rajbeh lauded JCC's efforts aimed to help the ICT sector's to grow, overcome difficulties and open new horizons of operations locally and abroad.
