Tkiyet Um Ali, a non-profit organisation providing food support to vulnerable communities in the Kingdom, on Sunday launched its Ramadan campaign, titled 'Your Zakat Reaches All Jordan'.
The Zakat donations are disbursed to support monthly food parcel programmes of the charity organisation under a fatwa issued by the Iftaa Department.
This year, the charity campaign aims to shed light on delivering food support to underprivileged families accredited by Tkiyet Um Ali across the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The organisation said that the parcels include 19 food items that are sufficient to prepare iftar (the fast breaking meal at sunset) and suhour (pre-dawn meal) in Ramadan and they are also sufficient to prepare three meals per day in the rest of months.
Those interested can donate through by dialing 064900900, the website HYPERLINK 'http://www.tua.jo'www.tua.jo, the smart phone application TUA, or visiting Tkiyet’s branches at commercial centres.
According to Islamic law, or Sharia, zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam, a tax that requires paying 2.5 per cent of what a Muslim owns in cash money, gold, silver, cattle, farms and rentable assets, in alms.
