The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Wednesday announced the official results of the provincial, municipal and Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) elections, which were conducted March 22.
In a statement, the IEC's Chairman, Dr. Khaled Kalaldeh, said the official results were posted on the commission's website after being audited, in preparation for their publication in the Official Gazette.
Kalaldeh pointed out that the preliminary results began to be issued Tuesday, by candidates who calculated their ballots in all voting booths, pointing to the difficulties in the process of dealing with the women's quota.
The IEC dealt with all electoral irregularities that were monitored by various parties, which 'did not affect integrity of the election process,' he pointed out.
In this regard, a total of 12 violations were referred to the judiciary, in addition to two cases that were reported to the IEC on Wednesday, and were transferred to the relevant authorities, according to Kalaldeh.
In addition, Kalaldeh said the IEC will release a 500-page report within two days that thoroughly provides details related to the March 22 election process.
