Lower House passes political parties bill as amended by Senate
The Lower House on Monday passed the draft political parties law as amended by the Senate during a session chaired by Deputy Speaker Ahmad Safadi and attended by cabinet members.
The Senate was adamant on a 20% quota for youth and women in a political party, a one-year grace period to rectify the status of existing parties and a 'majority', instead of 'one third', of founding members attending its founding conference.
The lawmakers also referred to the Economy and Investment Committee the bill on professional licenses inside the Greater Amman Municipality.
