'vast' 77% majority of Jordanians view the Palestinian issue as the most important political problem facing the Middle East that needs to be solved, results of an opinion poll on 'Jordan's foreign policy and international relations' showed.
The poll, carried out by the University of Jordan's Center of Strategic Studies (CSS), also showed that 25% of Jordanians are interested in Middle East issues, and a third of respondents follow Jordan-related news.
The poll's results, which were released on Sunday, is part of the 'Jordanian Index - Street Pulse Survey,' which measures Jordanians' opinions, their knowledge, and awareness on emerging issues in Jordan and the region, according to the CSS's Director, Dr. Zaid Eyadat.
The CSS carried out a survey 'Jordanian foreign policy and relations International,' the first and most comprehensive poll to measure Jordanian citizens' knowledge of Jordanian foreign policy and extent of their knowledge and satisfaction with it, Eyadat said.
The poll, which was carried out during February 15-22 period, on a national sample, is 'representative and comprehensive of the Kingdom's governorates, regions, age and education groups, to know citizens' opinions on Middle East issues, Jordan’s economic relations and its foreign policy, he noted.
37% of respondents view Saudi Arabia as the 'largest' Arab country economic supporter to Jordan, while the United States is the non-Arab country, which provides the highest economic assistance to the Kingdom, followed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar with 11% respectively, then came Britain by 6%, the poll's results showed.
In addition, respondents' majority preferred Saudi Arabia to strengthen economic relations in the future, followed by Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, Iraq, the UAE, and Syria, the poll revealed.
