Unstable weather to bring heavy downpour to Jordan Saturday-JMD
The Kingdom is set to be affected by a state of atmospheric instability, and rain is forecast to fall in separate areas countrywide with heavy downpour in the Kingdom's southern, eastern and central regions, Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.
Precipitation is accompanied by thunder and hail, which leads to flood formation in valleys and low-lying areas, including Aqaba and the Dead Sea area, the department added.
In the morning hours, light flurries of snow could fall over the southern mountain hilltops for a limited period. With the night hours, rain chances tapers off in the Kingdom's northern and central regions, while downpour continues in the southern and eastern areas, the JMD said.
In its report, the JMD warns of the danger of flash floods in valleys and low areas, including the Dead Sea, the Gulf of Aqaba and Wadi Araba, as well as slippery roads, thunderstorms, and wind gusts , especially in the Kingdom's southern and eastern regions.
On Sunday, there is an opportunity of light showers of rain in the morning hours, especially in the Kingdom's southwestern areas. With the late night hours, fog is set to form over hilltops and the desert areas, the JMD noted.
Also on Saturday, mercury will hover around a high of 12 degrees Celsius, dipping into 3C during night, while the Gulf of Aqaba will see a fair 20C, sliding to 11C during night hours.
