Jordan records 15,107 new COVID-19 cases, positivity rate at 22.9pct
The Ministry of Health said Thursday that it recorded 23 coronavirus deaths and 15,107 cases, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 13,608 and the caseload to 1,541,379.
According to the ministry's daily media brief, 22.9 percent of 65,715 PCR tests taken today came back positive, adding that currently active Covid-19 cases topped 196,165 with 199 admitted today to hospitals, raising hospitalizations to 1,145. Some 205 cases left hospitals today, it pointed out.
On hospitals' capacity, the daily figures showed that the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was at 23%, intensive care beds 42% and respirators 18%.
In the central region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was at 27%, intensive care beds 44% and respirators 21%, it said.
In the southern region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was 17%, intensive care beds 15% and respirators 12%, it said.
It also said 22,720 Covid-19 patients have recovered, bringing total recoveries expected after the 14-day isolation period to 1,331,606.
On vaccinations, the ministry said that 4,654,831 people have taken the first dose of the coronavirus vaccines and 4,328,500 have been double-jabbed.
