Income and sales collections amounted to JD528.5 million in January, up by 11 percent compared with the figure reported in the same month of 2021, according to the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD).
The department's director-general, Hussam Abu Ali, said income tax collections hit JD337 million or 64 percent of the total, while sales tax revenue reached JD191 million, or 36 percent of the total.
He explained the month's higher collections are driven by reforms and robust fight against tax evasion and avoidance.
