The judicial commission, specialised in corruption cases, at the Amman Court of First Instance on Monday convicted a real estate evaluator working at a public department of charges of dereliction of duty.
The defendant received a three-month imprisonment and must pay JD91,949 in fines for the estimated loss to the Treasury.
The convited employee must also pay JD500 in administrative and court costs, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Additionally, the court convicted another real estate evaluator working at the same department of charges of dereliction of duty. He was sentenced to three months in jail and must pay JD500 in fines.
The second convicted employee must also pay administrative and court costs.
The court noted that the two convicted employees failed to conduct a field visit to a location of a sale transaction and presented a false account regarding the area of the premises.
The convicted officials falsely potorayed the area of the premises as 3,000 square metres in fact the real area is 6,000 square metres, Petra reported.
The convicted officials also falsely reported that the building is a residential unit while in fact it is classified as a commercial building, which incurred the Treasury heavy losses.
